Sigang District is located in southwest Jianan plain, north of the Zengwun River. The ter-rain is flat with a mild climate, situated at Zengwun River’s alluvial plain, and its agriculture has always been flourished.
Sigang District’s total area is 33.76 square kilometers, 2187 hectares of which is ara-ble. Its main industry is agriculture followed by animal husbandry and aquaculture. Agricultural produce includes rice, raw sugar cane, and corn. Approximately 120 factories are in the district, the majority of which are small and medium-sized businesses. Since 2005, the local government and farmers association have been actively promoting the Sigang sesame industry, which, after years of hard work, has gradually become well-known, increasing the revenue of local farmers. Currently, seasonal sesame plantation occupies about 300-400 hectares in the district.
